Privacy policy
How Untamed Safari Experience collects, uses, stores and protects the personal information you share through this website, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have.
Who we are
This policy explains how Untamed Safari Experience ("we", "us") handles personal information collected through this website. We are responsible for that information.
[NEEDS: legal company name, registered address, privacy contact email]
If you have a question about this policy or your information, contact us using the details above.
The short version
- We use the details you send us to answer your enquiry and plan your safari.
- We only send marketing emails if you tick the separate box asking for them.
- We store your IP address only as a salted hash, for spam protection.
- If you don't go on to book, we delete your enquiry after 24 months.
- We use essential cookies only, unless you agree to analytics cookies.
- We don't sell your information.
What we collect and why
When you send an enquiry
When you use the Plan your safari form or a quick enquiry form, we collect:
- your name and email address
- your phone number, if you give one or ask us to call or message you
- your country, if you choose it
- how you'd like us to contact you
- your trip preferences: travel month or dates, trip length, the number of adults, children's ages, any occasion, comfort level, pace, travel style, interests, budget range and any safaris you've saved
- your message
We use this to reply to you, to prepare a proposal and to plan your trip. We need it to take the steps you've asked for before any booking.
With the enquiry we also record a few technical details: the page you first landed on, the website that sent you (the site's name only, not the full address), any campaign tags in the link you followed, the type of browser you used and the time you gave consent. We use these to understand which pages help people plan, and to spot misuse of the forms.
When you save a plan to finish later
If you ask us to email you a link so you can finish the planner later, we store your email address and the answers you've given so far. The saved draft expires and is deleted after 30 days.
When you ask for our downloadable planner
If you request our downloadable safari planner, we store your first name, your email address and the page you signed up on. We email you the download link, followed by a short series of emails introducing articles from our travel guide. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops them straight away.
Marketing emails
We only send you news and offers if you tick the separate marketing box on a form. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by contacting us. Saying no has no effect on how we handle your enquiry.
Spam protection
To protect our forms from spam and abuse, we store your IP address only as a salted hash. That lets us limit repeated submissions without keeping the address itself.
Cookies and analytics
We use only the cookies needed for the website to work, unless you agree to analytics. If you agree, we use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use the site. Our cookie policy explains each cookie, and you can change your choice at any time.
Who can see your information
Our staff can see your information only where their role needs it. Access to our systems is protected by individual accounts and limited by role.
We use service providers to run the website and send email: our hosting provider, which stores the website and its database, and our email provider, which delivers our messages to you. If you agree to analytics, Google and Microsoft process information about your visit for us. These providers act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes.
[NEEDS: names and locations of the hosting provider and the email provider, and the safeguards used for any transfer of data outside the country where it was collected]
If you go on to book, we share the details needed to deliver your trip with the lodges, camps, airlines, park authorities and other suppliers involved, and with authorities where the law requires it.
We don't sell your personal information or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to a booking are deleted automatically after 24 months.
- Saved planner drafts are deleted when the link expires, after 30 days.
How long we keep planner download sign-ups and booking records will be added here.
[NEEDS: retention period for planner download sign-ups after unsubscribing]
[NEEDS: retention period for booking records, for example for accounting or legal obligations]
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct it
- ask us to delete it
- object to or restrict how we use it
- withdraw your consent at any time, for marketing emails or analytics cookies
- complain to a data protection authority
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details at the top of this policy. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on a request.
[NEEDS: the data protection laws that apply to the company and the supervisory authority travellers can complain to]
Keeping your information secure
The website uses an encrypted connection. Staff accounts are individual, protected by two-factor sign-in and limited by role, and we record changes made in our systems. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, but we work to protect yours.
Children
Our forms are meant to be completed by adults. We ask for children's ages only to plan a suitable trip, and we don't ask for children's names through the website.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and the date below.
